Precise GPS on a Compact Flash card

New and exclusively available from Premier Electronics, here is the world’s first Global Positioning System in a Compact Flash card format. The complete miniature system includes an external antenna and is WAAS-enabled for accuracy to within 5 metres. This makes it ideal for applications that require precise positioning information ...such as mobile measurement, data logging and tracking. By adding route-level software, it can create a portable satellite navigation system when plugged into a PDA or other handheld computers.

Although small in size and price, this Compact Flash GPS sets new performance standards. It will operate efficiently up to 60,000 feet, at 700 knots and withstand 4G acceleration. With a power consumption of only 38mA trickle, many exciting new applications will become an economic reality.

Even without the WAAS (wide area augmentation system) enabled, its standard positional accuracy using existing satellites is more than adequate for many consumer applications such as route finding.

Compared with the expense of traditional in-car satellite navigation, the Compact Flash GPS can enable an alternative at a fraction of the cost. Simply plug it into a PDA or other type of handheld computer running Windows CE (or later) operating software, add suitable route-level map software (also available from Premier) and optionally buy a car-mounting kit. This will also allow the PDA to be removed and used for other functions or transferred to another vehicle.

This new Compact Flash GPS will also open up many more business applications in transportation, marine, aviation and industrial markets. In logistics systems it will allow cheaper and more convenient new ways to track individual people or entire vehicle fleets ...for improved safety, efficiency and security. It will also help to integrate new portable systems for detection, measurement, data logging and analysis where roaming needs precision tracking within 5 metres ...such as with public utilities & service industries. Sailors could pocket one navigation system for use at sea, on land and in the air.

Premier Electronics will provide full support for this Compact Flash GPS which is being stocked in OEM volume, at a retail price of £189 plus tax.
