This unit features both the lower power using SiRF Star IIe/LP chipset and the very latest SiRF Xtrac firmware which offers amazing sensitivity to GPS signals. Switching between the two systems ensures that battery life can be extended for up to 8.5 hours using the SiRF Star IIe/LP chipset when good signal strength is available, while the SiRF Xtrac functionality can be engaged when travelling in more challenging signal areas such as under heavy leaf cover or between tall buildings in `urban canyons`. This high sensitivity mode can even provide a signal lock while indoors.
