Fax Modems

Speed and Data Protocols

FAX / Modem has been designed for 56,000 BPS download and is capable of supporting other popular modem speeds such as 33,600 BPS. The ITU-T (the commission responsible for modem standards) data protocols supported are V.21, V.22, V.23, V.22bis, V.32, V.32bis, V.34 and V.34bis.

In addition, the FAX / Modem family support V.42 (error correction) and V.42bis (data compression - however, the modem at the receiving end must be able to decompress the data using the same compression techniques).

Fax Facility

FAX / Modem support fax communications enabling a PC to send and receive faxes in the user absence.

Voice Data

FAX / Modem automatically switches between voice and data modes. ASVD (Advanced Simultaneous Audio/Voice-Over Data) comes as standard (this allows users to (for example) play a computer game and talk to their opponent at the same time on the same line).

Auto-Answer

FAX / Modem has an auto-answer facility, which enables a PC to receive telephone calls in the user absence.
