Using pigment as color filter instead of traditional dye technology the endurance life of color filter to UV is 1000 times better. hence it is not only good at low light but also very good as strong lighting environment such as using the camera besides seashore or near a very strong discharge lamp for long time.

Comparison between Panasonic EXTRA-View CCD and legacy CCD sensor
EXTRA-View CCD is 2.5 more sensitive then legacy CCD on the spectral range of 500 nm to 800nm
The new photo diode design in this new CCD increased the sensitivity for 2 times more and the new pigment color filter contribute for another 0.5 times , together makes total 2.5 time more sensitivity.
